Rolling Rs 01 - Subject Pronouns
January 7, 2006

This is the first episode of Rolling R’s. As you will see, the purpose of Rolling R’s is to help you learn Spanish by providing brief lessons every day. . . well almost every day. This one is a little early. It’s intended to be Monday’s show, but I thought I’d go ahead and post it now. The next one will come on Tuesday.
All past Rolling R's Episode are located in the members area.
You can also watch free samples here.

I found that I could learn Spanish very well with your classes. The user interaction is great! I will subscribe and keep on watching. Thanks for doing these.

After watching the first episode, I can say that it is really easy to learn with you. I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun watching your show, and I want to thank you for all the knowledge you give us for free.

We’re really enjoying your podcast and actually learning some Spanish!
The video podcast is such a better format than audio and the short time means that it doesn’t take up too much of your day. The quality of the lessons is very high compared to anything else available
Hope you keep it up!

Hello, I am Erik from China. I also have passion for Spanish. So I begin to learn it. I find your podcast is very useful for me. I think if you can post the script for your every podcast(vedio), it would be better.

Un afectuoso saludo.
Espero que tengas mucha suerte.

Larry,
I am trying your podcasts out on my new video ipod. I’ve notice that the 1st installment shows and plays as a podcast but the 2nd (as far as I’ve gone) shows and plays as a video podcast. I downloaded both via iTunes. I’m looking forward to this new tool to finally learn spanish in a useful way.
Thanks, Dale

Disregard, user error….
Comment by Dale — January 21, 2006 @ 12:59 pm
For those of us who don’t have iPods (there ARE other MP3 players out there!), and who refuse to use iTunes/QuickTime, you can still watch the videos using VideoLAN, which is available for both Windoze and Mac, and supports many protocols, including H.264

Hello,
I’m Marilo’s Boyfriend. Looks like she beat me to this comment page. I just wanted to say that this Podcast comes in real handy for me, and I have leaned so much from just these seven short clips. I can’t wait to impress her parents when I meet them.
Looking forward to my ipod updating the next episode.
Many Thanks
Jude

¡Oje!
This site is a wonderful place. I am so excited to be using your video lessons to enhance my understanding of Spanish. If you have time, would you do a lesson on how to roll your “Rs” correctly?
Regards,

Hey, Larry! Great Video cast! I have just started watching and really love the short, fun lessons with a teacher that holds my interest. Unfortuantely, my PDA does not do video - any chance the lessons will be available in mp3 audio only so I can take them along?
Thanks!
Comment by Mike — February 22, 2006 @ 7:01 am
Dear Larry (if I may be so bold),
This is excellent, I get it on my iPod and have great fun learning Spanish. Would it be possible to move your body slightly so I could also see the board. I don’t like saying yo pago, took me some time to learn ustedes pagan la cuenta which I find more useful than yo pago la cuenta!
Hopefully I’ll be able to use this when I travel to Spain from England in the summer - could you do a supplement in Catalan?
Thanks again, you’re doing great work,
David
Comment by David — February 27, 2006 @ 3:41 am
Mr. Kiem, a big thanks for taking time out of your schedule to share your teaching ability with the world. I discovered your pod cast and have been trying to prepare for my trip to Puerto Rico. I was there last year and felt pretty sad that I couldn’t speak a word of spanish (other than the NY street spanish that I have picked up)
Hopefully this year I can at least ask where the bathroom is!
Anyway thanks again its nice to see a person driven by the passion of teaching.

I really like this podcast. I watched 6 episodes last night while I was lying around in bed and I actually learned something! You do a good job of explaining things quickly and clearly. One complaint, please stop standing in front of the Usted section of the board, it’s driving me nuts! Otherwise you’re great! More! More! More!
Comment by Nikki — March 10, 2006 @ 9:50 am
I have recently discovered “podcasting” and think this is the wave of the future for all sorts of information delivery… especially learning. You will be numbered among the pioneers. I like your nonpedigogical style…i.e. ustedes means “you guys”. Keep it real. Thanks for a great service!
Comment by Joe Karen — March 10, 2006 @ 12:03 pm
New to my Ipod and to podcasting but this is exactly what I had hoped to find. My adult ADD makes the 5 or so minute episodes perfect and i look forward to these lessons. Especially enjoy an enthusiastic teacher… thanks for making it available.!
Comment by Scott — March 11, 2006 @ 10:26 pm
I struggled through French in high school. If I had known at the time I would be living in California for 20 years, I would have studied Spanish instead. Now, as a middle-age guy with vague plans of retiring to Chile, I need to get serious about learning something more than menu Spanish. I stated off with a book and CDs from Berlitz, but didn’t get very far. I feel a lot less dumb with the Rolling R’s series. Keep cranking them out, por favor. Oh, and are you going to make the extended podcasts available at iTunes? I’d rather deal with them than PayPal.
Comment by Al Christensen — March 24, 2006 @ 1:59 pm
When I listen to your first video podcast it seems to crash my ipod and I have to reset it. This doesn’t occur in any of the other lessons.Has this happened to anyone else? I have the new 5G ipod 30mg video. I think your free podcasts are great and I think you make it easy to learn. I’m sure your a great junior high teacher.
Comment by Sharlene — March 28, 2006 @ 11:55 am
i’ve picked up on bits and pieces of spanish from friends and co-workers over the years but your lessons help bring it all together in a more comprehensible way. keep up the good work and muchas gracias

I just found these podcasts on IM.com and I have to say, I really enjoy them. I’m trying to learn Spanish to be able to help more of my customers at work. The format is easy to follow, it doesn’t take long in the day, and it’s fun. I hope the podcasts will continue. Keep up the good work!
Adios

Hi,
I came across your site looking to see what exactly is video podcasting. Well, I found it.. Thank you
Do you know of any teachers using the same method you are but instead teaching “FRENCH”
I’ll greatly appreciate it if you would let me know.
Thanks.

Just a suggestion….

Help! I cannot roll my r’s. I have tried & tried, my tounge does not seem to roll up or flutter, I have tried to sound out the “d” part of it and that doesn’t seem to work either. Worse, even if I can get a brief passable rolling r sound, I cannot keep it going (like a purrrrr). I am even considering some type of hypnotherapy for this - any suggestions?
Comment by Nicole — January 17, 2008 @ 12:12 pm
Thank you, these classes are great so far! I’m going to go to Honduras to volunteer as a nurse for a couple of years, and these classes have been a really great introduction to Spanish, before I start classes for real… so really thank you, and God bless you! (I’ll give you some money too, as someone who volunteers I know that thanks are nice, but when people give you money you know you’re appreciated!)
